2010 Round 2 - Wakefield Park Recap:
Round 2 of the 2010 NSW State Championship headed to Wakefield Pk Goulburn minus the series points leader Dave Loftus. However, the Over 2lt field still boasted the likes of current defending State Champion Ryan Brown, Doug Moss and Brett Morse to make sure everyone would have to be on their A game if they wanted to make some ground on the BSM Starlet. Setting the early pace and snatching pole position was Doug Moss in the Turbo Datsun 120Y from Ryan Brown in the RX7. Second row in P3 saw the RX7 of Brett Morse along side the Rockstar Energy Drink Mazda RX7 in P4.

Unfortunately for Brett Morse, the vibration from round 1 returned meaning poor ol'Morsey would have to be a spectator and couldn't join in the action. Up front it was the Brown and Moss show with Browny just pippin the little Turbo Datsun in R1 and R2 before a ECU drama in R3 caught Ryan Brown 100m short of a Wakefield Park clean sweep and handed the win to Doug Moss. The Rockstar Energy Drink Mazda RX7 finished 2nd in the Trophy Race and a battered and bruised Peter Foote limp'd home in 3rd after a coming together with Ahmed Baghdadi's Commodore.
Our weekend got better as it went... Friday Practice was cut short once again with the same old Microtech ECU drama from round 1. Microtech couldn't offer any help other than to say 'Sorry' which wouldn't help us too much at all. A quick ring around got us in-touch with Brett Hodder from HP Motorsport who organised a spare LT10 for us to use for the weekend. In the meantime we threw Garth Walden into the car (with Browny's ECU) to do some fine tuning of the shocks and set-up. Earlier in the week the #16 Rockstar Energy Drink Mazda RX7 was delivered to Sydney Shock Absorbers (Heasman's Suspension Sydenham) to give us a set up to work from and from the outset, with Garth in the car, we were in a better place. Garth gave great feedback to Paul Joyner from Sydney Shock Aborbers and seemed pretty impressed with how the car felt overall.
The car is growing better with each race meeting and I really feel that the progress made since this point last season has been unmeasurable. The car is behaving like a race car should. With Browny's DNF, we are leading the 2010 State Championship heading into round 3 at Eastern Creek in June. Overall Points after Round 2 - (Top 5).
