Our Team - Chaparral Racing Inc.
................. The Team Chaparral "Team" started out like most Club Car team with a few mates deciding to go Racing. In the beginning, named "Team Harmston Racing" we took to the track competing in the newly improved "Improved Production Racing" here in New South Wales, and from our first "hit out" we knew that this is were we wanted to be. Our car's were basically modified street Mazda RX7's right down to the fact that the 27 (formerly 95) Team Harmston Racing RX7 ran out of it's street registration only a few months before it was entered in it's first IPRA Round.
With all the advice we could muster on board along with some interesting first up result's, we stumbled on a 12 month deal with Boost Mobile for both cars. Encouraging us to think up a new Team Name which suited both drivers and to get away from the usual "Last Name Racing" stigma that Club Car Racing had fallen into over recent times.
The way we looked at it was that unless you were either Mark Skaife or Craig Lowndes, "Last Name Racing" teams were dated, uninteresting and lacking in imagination.
Then came the launch of our "Team Chaparral Racing" . Chaparral has a few different meaning's and anyone with a Dictionary search engine on their computer could more than likely quote every single meaning. "Chaparral" is actually the type of bird that the Looney Tunes "Road Runner" is.... But that's not why we called our team that...Beep Beep... There is also a town in the USA called Chaparral, it's also the name of a small shrub thingy..But.. We just liked the name...Beep Beep...
Our Goal is to do the best we without losing sight of the reason we love this sport so much. In 2003, we wanted to take our racing a little more serious (more so, just to have our car's at least on par with the rest of the field) and with determination, good results would follow.
The task of getting our cars competitive was to the boys at Mazsport Race Engines at Seven Hills and Rev Doctor Motorsports at Hornsby. These guys have several championships in various classes between them and in our honesty opinion, there is NO-ONE better at this level of motorsport to get the job done. Rev Doctor Motorsport comprising of Scott Fleming and Paul Cooney pride themselves on professionalism, and in understanding the way race cars work. Anyone can tell you that you should have this or you should have that, but when asked "why" a blank look is given with the usual reply of "cause it's the best". The Rev Doctor crew take time out to tell you the reasons why, when, who, what.... Which is why they are the guys to beat come Race day.
Our Racing Program over the next few years is quite simple, but it's all the more important to execute everything needed to successfully compete at this level. We believe that the Improved Production Category will be the next "BIG THING" and looking at it's growth over the past 3 - 5 years, we're glad we've chosen our time carefully to try to peak when it's at it's premium. The class is attracting some top notch competitor's with some of the grid's being filled with Current V8 Supercar Champions, National Karting Champions, Ex-Konica V8 Supercar competitors along with GTP and Bathurst 24Hrs Drivers, meaning that we've got to be at our best everytime we hit the track.
Here at Team Chaparral Racing, we believe that if you can't promote yourself well, you can't promote anybody hence the reason why you'll always see our cars looking and performing at their absolute best everytime.
As time goes on, we believe that we'll be up front, but we've got to tick ALL the boxes when it comes to getting the best out of our team, both on and off the track.
We hope you enjoy following our progress |
